We put on a great Event, many thanks to all who helped and attended!
Settle Festival have been asked to organise the Settle Christmas Lights activities this year; in order to do this, we are looking for community support and input, to create events which people want.
Currently, the initial idea is to hold an event in the Town Market place on the afternoon/evening of Saturday 1st December. Plus, a look into extending a series of events across each weekend in December prior to Christmas.
We have already received collaborative support from Settle Town Council, The Rotary, The Chamber of Trade, StART and Settle Primary School, who will also act as liaison with the local Primary Schools cluster.
We would aim to liaise and work with individuals, groups and organisations in the town and district, so as to create a great run up to Christmas in Settle. This is an opportunity for everyone to get involved.
We would particularly welcome ideas and help on fundraising for the lights, and would also welcome any donations or sponsorship. Business sponsors can benefit from media, printed and web advertising.
Any help and input is appreciated, small or large.
Other possible ideas we are looking into include
- A Character Hunt around the town, with a festive theme – similar to a “scarecrow trail”
- A “Battle of the Bands” competition
- A Procession, involving local children, (lanterns, fancy dress etc?)
- Christmas trees and lights on the Town Centre Buildings
- Carol Singing
- A Pantomime/Musical
- A Charity stall market day
- A Festive Farmers market
- A leaflet will be produced to advertise the events
- A Webspace will be created on www.settlefestival.co.uk
We would welcome any help, support and input on these or any other ideas.
We would like to invite anyone interested to attend meetings on Tuesdays 7.00pm in Settle Town Hall, Upstairs, to “get the ball rolling”.
Anyone who may not be able to make this meeting, please contact us on 07807 160 310 or comment and get involved via the forums at www.settlefestival.co.uk/board/
